Sheri Doss, MBA
Chairwoman
Sheri J Doss, Immediate Past State President of Texas PTA, served for over 18 years in various PTA leadership roles, to become the first African American State President in Texas PTA’s 111 years. She continues to support Texas PTA and serves on the National PTA Leadership Development Committee.
Prior to pursing her passion to advocate for kids, Sheri worked as a project manager, systems analyst and independent consultant in the telecommunications industry. She earned a B.S. in Computer Science and Math from the University of California, Davis, and an MBA from Rutgers Graduate School of Management. Sheri has also earned a certification from the ACC Center for Nonprofit Studies in Nonprofit Leadership and Management and is a certified member of the John Maxwell Team.
Dr. Chantae Recasner
Vice Chair
Dr. Recasner is a native of New Orleans, LA but spent much of her career in Cincinnati, OH prior to moving to Texas. She has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Loyola University New Orleans, three Master’s degrees from The Ohio State University (Teaching & Learning, African American & African Studies, and Business Operational Excellence), and a PhD in Education from University of Cincinnati.

Having always valued the intersection of education and community building, Dr. Recasner’s work as an English Professor and in her various administrative positions, including her current position as Dean for Academic Success at Northeast Lakeview College, has always been accented by vested engagement with community efforts. As Dean of Faculty and Instructional Development at Austin Community College, Dr. Recasner built partnerships with various community and civic agencies and is currently partnering with the Austin Fire Department to promote equity in public service. She has served in various leadership roles in professional organizations, but currently is the Assistant Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the National Council on Black American Affairs.

Dr. Recasner is the proud architect of a partnership between BRP and Northeast Lakeview College, which she hopes will expand the reach of BRP to the entire Alamo Colleges District. She is passionate about advancing opportunities and access for women of color, and she is unyielding in her advocacy for equity.
Alicia Guerrero
Board Secretary
Alicia Guerrero is the Data Manager for a non-profit called Con Mi MADRE, a two-generation organization that empowers young Latinas and their mothers through education and support services. She oversees the organization’s data management protocols and leads the analysis and reporting. Alicia also has experience organizing in the community. She has worked as a distributed organizer for a statewide campaign, and she has helped establish Central Texas’ first immigration crisis hotline. She has experience recruiting, training, and leading groups of volunteers from 5 to 1000. Alicia has also been a high school art teacher, and she stays connected to the arts by making her own art during her free time. Alicia is deeply passionate about advocacy and using community voice to fight for the cause. She has contributed her time to fight for immigration and criminal justice reform, combating voter suppression, and improving the educational pipeline for students of color.
Rasheeda Quarles
Board Treasurer
Originally from Chicago Illinois, I have lived in Austin, Texas for the last 5 years. With over 20 years of experience in Retail Banking and currently work for VeraBank in Round Rock, Texas as Branch Manager. During my banking career I have held many positions and strongly believe in hard work and dedication. I pride myself in building longtime relationships with my clients and providing solutions to meet their specific need. Years of working in the banking industry I understand the importance of educating and empowering the unbanked and
underserved. Starting my banking career at the age of 18 has afforded me the opportunity to have many women be part of my growth and development. I have been blessed to mentor young women in the past and I look forward to being part of the growth of girls and women in the board room.
Rona Walton
Board Member
A living example of success, Rona Walton brings decades of proven leadership through both her professional career and community involvement. She is a recent graduate of Leadership Austin - EMERGE 13 / Class of 2020 as well as graduate of Nonprofit Leadership and Management - Class of 2019. Through determination and dedication she graduated, with honors, from Austin Community College; which earned her a spot on the 2004 National Dean's List. Rona was employed for 5 years as Purchaser for the State of Texas with various state agencies. During that time, Rona worked to raise awareness of the Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) Program. She is committed to creating access to opportunities for young women of color. As Rona resides in Buda, TX with her heartbeats: husband, 3 adult children and grandson - she continues to learn how to live intentionally.
